1. What is VO2 Max? Volume of oxygen consumed. Max aerobic capacity is the highest volume of oxygen a person can consume during exercise.

2. Ischemia – Decreased blood flow, which can lead to an insufficient oxygen supply to the heart muscle during rest or exercise.

3. What are mitochondria? The site of aerobic energy (ATP) production. The greater the number of mitochondria in a cell, the greater the aerobic energy production capability of that cell.

4. What is the difference between systole and diastole? Systole refers to the contraction phase of the cardiac cycle, diastole refers to the relaxation phase.

5. Name the three kinds of blood vessels and their functions? Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart. The exception is the pulmonary artery.

6. Capillaries are where the exchange ot nutrients takes place between the blood and the cells of your body.

7. Veins carry deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart. The exception is the pulmonary vein.

8. Define flexibility- A joint’s ability to move freely thru a full and normal range of motion (ROM). Within each joint, for each activity, there is an optimum ROM essential to peak performance.

9. What is a motor unit? A single motor nerve and all the muscle fibers it stimulates.

10. What is body composition? The makeup of the body in terms of body fat and fat free mass.
